Are Ducati owners all tosser's ?

I was in Woods bike shop the other day , [Triumph and Ducati dealer] looking at a Monster , or monstrosity !
Noticed it had an open type clutch cover , you could actually see the clutch springs ! [dry clutch]
Just thinking how impractical it would be to ride , you could only take it out on a sunny day ?
Looks like purely a poser's machine , not much use for anything else !

Ducati riders in general though ?... well at places like the Ponderosa cafe you see them come in on 916 /998 ect with wives /girlfriends complete with matching leathers , lids , and boots .

Of course they never mix with owners of japanese machines , we are looked upon as the lower orders of society or something !

Best laugh for me was at a trackday at Oulton Park , a guy turned up with a Foggy replica Ducati complete with Foggy replica leathers , with a big no 1 on his back.

He got overtaken by everyone, i lapped him twice in a 20 minute session !....In fact he went home after about 2 sessions i think , because i didnt see him again .

And this was the novice group as well ! Talk about all the gear no idea !

Talking Re: Are Ducati owners all tosser's ?

I am not adversed to making numb-nut mistakes myself, but I have to mention the funniest thing I ever saw......

Had a run down to Godstone one summer on my slow but very fun Honda Dominator (leo vince/Dynojet stage one), and picked a race with an immaculate Ducati 916 (one of my favourite bikes)...Ducati leathers and helmet and full Termi's. On the straights he roasted my ears with his Termi's and simply blew me away ....then on the corners he just could not ride the thing...brake-stand it up-brake-stop-turn it-check self in mirror-accelerate!! Eventually and absolutely flat out with a following wind, head on the tank and feet on the rear footpegs, I put-putted past him at 100MPH on a no brainer, with no thought for sense or safety blahblah:

Parked up in Godstone by a little pond and a couple of minutes later in came the 916. He stopped in the same car park a few feet away...nodded at me...raised his visor and smiled...put down the sidestand and proceeded to dismount.....crash went the beautiful 916 as the deathtrap stand fully retracted!! £12,000 of immaculate Ducati bike and gear in full panic mode

I Am a big Ducati fan, always have been and have to say I have never felt so much sympathy for a bike in all my life...this gorgeous machine prostrate and scarred.....was very funny though!! I very nearly bought a Multistrada before the Rex....one of the things that put me off were the City boy owners always in the shop....no idea what bikes were about, loved their reflections in the mirror etc...each to their own and I would not stereotype people but, in my experience the Ducati crowd are quite posey.

Not tossers, great laughing stock though

I bet he thought he was fast by overtaking all the cars (and maybe some bikes) on the road and leaving them at the lights.

What a tosser.... er I mean laughing stock

Re: Are Ducati owners all tosser's ?

Not all are that bad, just most, one story I do like to relate involving a Ducati 916 and its owner,

1015 on a sunday morning call out to owners house for a non start, just a flat battery so no real problem it just had not been ridden for a while. 2 - 2 1/2 years old and just over 2500 miles on the clock.

take it for a ride was my advice to get the battery charged up again. so whilst i was checking his tyre pressures (what a nice bloke I am) off he went to get changed. Yep, matching power ranger suit. Off he went.

An hour or so later, recalled to depot to pick up hiab accident unit to attended incident on A32, there was my punter at side of road, power ranger suit covered in mud.

It had gone straight through a hedge, trouble was could not lift it over the top so had to pull it back through the hedge.

He then put in a complaint to the company, saying accident was my fault cause I had told him to take bike for a ride.

Dont start me on that one, just found out that some silly cow is claiming I have damaged her sons mini, not withstanding he managed to rag it hard enough to rip out a drive shaft.

Re: Are Ducati owners all tosser's ?

The Ducatis of recent years are some of the best handling bikes ever made.
Some are ridden by totally crap posers, some by enthusiastic, hard-core racers.

How can a bike define whether its rider is a tossa?

Some ZRX riders are complete tossas IMHO, but we all know the ZRX is one of the best bikes ever made
