ZRX Scottish Meet 11th June 2023

Right guys following on from an earlier discussion on Facebook I've spoken to the Lauderdale Hotel in Lauder (Doh!) about using their facilities for a Scottish ZRX meet.

They are more than happy to rope off a car park for our exclusive use so no problems with parking, they can provide tea/coffee and either a bacon or fried egg roll for ?5.50 at around 11, or you can book and eat from the main Sunday roast lunchtime menu for ?15.50 They will need to know numbers to organise as they are a small independent hotel so you will need to let me know by the beginning of May please so I can pass this along. I eat there quite often and the food and service are excellent.

They have 11 rooms to rent. At present they aren't up on the website but they are available, you can book by phone - tell them you know me. Price is ?75 for a single or ?95 for a double room.
Lauder is a small town in the Scottish Borders on the A68 about 45 minutes from Edinburgh - at the speed limit - I have done it in quite a bit less...... Close towns include Kelso, Galashiels, Hawick and Selkirk, villages include Gordon (where I stay) Earlston, Greenlaw and St Boswells.

The roads in the Borders are generally excellent with only a smattering of speed cameras and vans.

Places to visit if you are making a weekend out of it include Floors Castle in Kelso, Mellerstain House, Thirlestane Castle, Jedburgh Abbey, Jedburgh has one of the best butchers in the Borders and theres a lovely donkey sanctuary - check for opening times as you need to book it - Abbotsford House (Home of Sir Walter Scott) and Scott's View - the ride there is amazing! There are plenty other places of interest including Traquair house which boasts its own brewery.
Can I ask if you are planning on coming, let me know so I can let the Hotel know numbers please, in 2018 we had 21 ZRX's at South Queensferry, 2019 we had 25 at Moffat so hopefully this year we can increase those numbers and hopefully see a lot of you there to swap stories, meet and renew old friendships and make new ones.
