Yes it goes into neutral and rear wheel turns freely. Yes have tried bumping it same result without plugs.

Dave, spitballing, wonder if the starter chain has dropped free and caught? Just an idea, no expertise to back it up!
Don't want to start a wild goose chase, but if all else fails.........
Going to start the investigation at the weekend and work through the easy stuff first and check everything out until there’s nothing else for it but to separate the cases and see what’s happened.

Measure down to the piston crowns through the spark plug holes. You should get two pairs the same, if one measurement isn't the same as it's pair, you have a bent rod from hydrolocking.
