advancer probs ???

can anyone help please.....i have now fitted the 4 degree advancer,really easy to do...but,when i go to fire my bike up,it turns over if the timings way out,sounds awful,then it fires....apart from that it runs lovely with the advancer in,really smooth....just sounds awful on initial fire up??...anyone else had this prob,cos when i put the original back in...its fine...totally normal..

Which advancer have you got, because some of the quality varies.

got it off fleabay....come from Romford..Essex..apart from that...are they different..took my bike out today and some some strange reason,it just wont pull properly...holding back,so i have refitted the stock advancer to see..
