So when I asked about an ecu remap / reflash a couple of years ago, Bournemouth Kawasaki refused to do it, because at that point no factory remaps were available. They did give me the number of someone who could.. The problem was that the ECU was encrypted, so you needed a key and at back then almost no one had cracked it. Since then there are a few people who have created custom maps, Jordan Bikes up in Leeds have done quite a few...
The thing that causes the problem is that at lower revs the bike runs lean (emissions). It's emissions legislation rather than the FI itself which is the problem. I've ridden way worse, but yes, they can be a bit snatchy.
You'd be much better getting it setup on a dyno. My mate does them on his dyno and gets excellent results.
