Stripped and blasted the water pump and prepped it for paint

Then started prepping the damaged Inner trans cover for repair....

Good stuff. What are your plans for the cover repair?

I don't have access to a mig or tig welder, so I guess I'm going to attempt a repair using chemical metal, if that doesn't work I'll have to see if I can get some low temp aluminium brazing / soldering rods.

was always taught to adapt, improvise and overcome

Suppose jb weld or chem metal would probably sort that fine given its unstressed should hold.

I did the inner face first and left overnight, cleaned it up this morning

looked ok, so prepped the outer side

in the process of doing this the rear repair began to give way, don't know if its the cold or I cut it back too much, or whether I mixed it right in the freezing shed last night. Anyway, spent some time this morning making sure I mixed the stuff as per instructions, heated the part above freezing and lathered it on the outside, won't get back in the shed until next week so we'll see what happens then

Very interested in how this repair will hold over time.

Same happened to me, exactly the same, I tried to repair, but eventually replaced the part, good luck.
