    carburetors restriction top mixing chambers

    Hello

Doing some research to buy a rack of carburetors for my zrx1200r 2005, found that in some nations they could have limitations due to insurance and or emissions.
This restriction that limitates the power to 100hp is something inside the carburetors, probably the top covers of the mixing chambers.
looking at parts diagrams, i can't find any mention of that, but i found that they have different part numbers between for example a 2002 model and a 2005.

anyone could provide more information about this?

    thank you all

All 1200 carbs in the uk will be the same (no restrictions). Only difference later models post 2004 will have solenoids on the float chambers. Which is probably the part number difference.
Having said that some EU country's may have HP restrictions.

They used to restrict the jap 1100's thru the carb tops iirc.
Restrict the height that the slides could rise.
Just change carb tops for zzr ones if its the same.

The restrictions stopped around 2000. Some ZZR1100's fell foul of the restriction, (I had one)_ the trick back then was to fit ZXR750 carb tops to get full slide lift. I am unaware of any restrictions placed on ZRX1200's though.

If there were subsequent restrictions, for some countries I'd expect it to be electrical rather than mechanical. Speedo/ECU etc.

Sorry but i can't see any relation between different bowls which would require different top covers part number

A german seller stated that his carburetor rack has a restriction in those top covers because in germany they could save on insurance costs with the bike limited to 100hp

I think i will buy them and then investigate when i will receive them

In the mean while i was curious if anyone already knows anything about it

The restricted ones did not have the bump in the top, so the throttle slide could only rise about 7/8 the way up the throttle body. As said though, it did not apply to ZRX1200's.

I have no idea what the German dude is on about tho, maybe its an aftermarket restriction, a bit like our restricted driving licence restrictions that allow a restricted full power bike to be used ?

Re: carburetors restriction top mixing chambers

    Sorry men but I'm confused.

I have a Jap import and the carb. tops are flat.
I can't find any pictures of ZRX carbs with a bulge in the caps.
Is there possibly a difference in overall height between the two or could there be an internal unseen restriction?

Could someone on a higher pay grade than myself explain my confusion.
    Some photo's may help me.
If any body can point me in the direction of ZZR or ZXR carb. top part numbers I would appreciate it as all the parts diagrams I have seen show flat top carbs?

    Thanks in advance

    Gus

Yes they were and yes he does.
European Rexes could be restricted in other ways, that said, I've never seen different carb tops on any Rex.
