R&G's saved any damage to mine when it went over. It did cost me a new LH bung...but then it would have cost me a new set of crash bars which are dearer too ... Dont fit cheap shite though - the R&G's are expensive for the Rex, but rock solid.

You can get smaller bars that look less hideous than the offerings from Renntec (I would have to do something with that bottom mount and they would have to be black) .

I just think bars look a little too agricultural for my Rex but they both do their job (sliders or bars) so like everything...…………... you pays your money

That said, if you ride steady enough you will never need either

Something to consider if you are unfortunate to throw a bike down the road, is that proper crash bungs are specifically designed to slow the bike down as it slides, as well as to protect the bodywork.

Engine bars will protect the bodywork sure enough but will not slow the bike in a slide, and will in all likelihood send out a shower of sparks in their wake, so you'd best hope you are not leaking fuel as well or you have a real problem
