    Complete loss of clutch

    Evening Gents.

Bike has been stood for a couple of months and I just pulled the clutch lever in and got absolutely nothing. It wasn't brilliant when I rode it the once since I bought it.

Is this a commom fault and any pointers to the fault would be much appreciated

    Many thanks

    Gus

Check the seal in your slave cylinder Gus (and whilst you are in there clean the operating rod off as they get a bit nippy round the seal)

More so though, the slave cylinder wall gets very claggy (more so with an open cover but the chain drags shite in there with a closed one) and so never really get looked at and hard to see if the seal is weeping as the sprocket area is always messy from chain lube

They are normally very robust and reliable but like everything they will only last so long

Most likely your clutch master reservoir is empty. Quick check, pop the top cover and see.
If confirmed next thing is to find the leak. Most probable is slave leak, stick your finger under slave cover it should be wet and oily. Master can also leak. I suppose it is good time to redo both slave and the master.

    Thanks for the replies Guys.

Yes master cyl. is empty and carpet is damp under the slave cyl.

Both sets of seals on order.

    Much appreciated.

Be prepared to find and deal with this

If so, find out if it will clean up without pits left.

I also use rubber ATE brake paste to coat parts to lube and inhibit corrosion. Great stuff.

Not really sure how a leaking slave wouldn't empty your master but there you go

I doubt its your master cylinder seals but wont harm I suppose.

If its pitted, unless you can get a cylindrical hone (and even if you can) I suspect you will be changing the cylinder

Now it's a good time to do master. Leaking master often ruins paint on the fuel tank BTW.
