Thanks all, so no harm done if I grind a bit off and no point if I always leave it in gear.

did mine way back like most of us (although rad rubber removal is more important)

Never had a problem, keep a robust puck/gimp thing on board for soft going.

Obviously, always leave in gear off the level stuff.

    Re: Side stand mod

Mine has a jacked up arse end (ooerr missus) I have a stock side stand set up and have (and had) no issues. If I park on a slope, I either face up it, or I leave the bike in gear - occasionally both. I make sure the stand IS down properly. Any doubts about the lean angle and I also turn the steering to the left. If the area is uneven, I park elsewhere

It just takes a bit of care and sense.

Kawasaki rarely fook up. They knew what they were doing when they designed the bike. If they found a problem with the side stand other than a handful of doofus owners over the years, they would have modified the bike.

They didn't ...so erm.... they didn't

Be careful sir as you are in danger of joining the "if i haven't done it then it doesn't need doing" gang

I mean Kawasaki didn't want or design this bike to only have one shock at the back but it hasn't stopped numpty's doing it now has it
