Remove brake lever and push the piston with a long screwdriver to bleed the system of air.
This increases the stroke of the piston to the length it SHOULD be but the lever cannot do, which is the reason you are having the problem.

Once bled, refit lever and all is good.

Please let me know how you get on..............as many dont believe this is the problem...........but it really is as you will see !

Just done mine this week end. I replaced all the hoses. I set up to have the bleed tubes fitted to both sides to save the arse of swapping all the time on the font discs, so you can bleed one side then the other quicker without all the hassle. Once you have fluid in the pipes and comming out the bleed ports, I slowly pump the brake lever to get the air out of the master cylinder. The bubles plop out the fluid entry holes to the cylinder chamber. Work the lever slowly, the fluid rate is then much faster and you get a good flow. If I cant seem to get all the air out, I take the pads out and pump the pistons as far as I dare, then push them back and bleed again. It helps get all the last little bubbles of air out

I don't like the sound of that.........how do you twist the throttle while holding a screw driver and what happens if the screwdriver comes out in an emergency stop situation?

If you don't need the bike for a while (say twenty years) and you can leave it with pal. He's got the technique sorted.
