Angry Best way to bleed brakes on a ZRX1200s

I have fitted new seals to the front brakes but I cannot get the braked lever to firm up. I have bled the brakes several times and tried all the normal methods but it still feels soft.

Any tricks that I have missed?

    Thx

not sure any tricks per se, but i found the brakes an absolute arse to bleed.

In fact, the only way i got them to semi decent, is to reverse bleed them and force the brake fluid in from the caliper end... not sure if that helps or not!

    Easy !!

Remove brake lever and push the piston with a long screwdriver to bleed the system of air.
This increases the stroke of the piston to the length it SHOULD be but the lever cannot do, which is the reason you are having the problem.

Once bled, refit lever and all is good.

Please let me know how you get on..............as many dont believe this is the problem...........but it really is as you will see !

That's an interesting one as I just did mine and had to resort to the reverse bleed method and left tied back overnight to get the air out. Is fine now, but will try this in the future.

If you still have the splitter, put the bike on its side stand and bleed the splitter by undoing the banjo on the right side.
Hold a large bit of cloth under to catch the fluid.

Also, try flicking the lever a few times to encourage any bubbles back into the res'.

If you are sure that no more air is coming out yet lever is not firm - has to much travel, take it for a spin in controlled environment...
Some of that travel may be a piston stroke.

I have always found them okay to bleed. On other bikes I have occassionally bled from the banjo bolts at the reservoir and at the caliper end to ensure there are no bubbles trapped near the banjo. I did this holding a rag around the banjo and cracking open the bolt whilst holding the brake. Three hands would be better for the job!
