    Re: First Run Out 2018

Had my first ride on mine today.

It's been sitting in the garden shed at my parent's house waiting patiently for the insurance to fall due. New policy kicked in from midnight. Rode my SV650 over to work this morning and then swapped bikes in the afternoon. Haven't had a chance to make enough room in my own shed for both bikes yet. I might just splurge on a half decent garage at the back of the house as I've a couple of Honda Helix (CN250) scooters stored at my parent's place that I've been meaning to breathe new life into as well. Room to work on them at my own house would really move things along.

Anyway, within 2 minutes of taking the ZRX out onto the road I knew that the higher screen the previous owner fitted was not for me. My helmet was being bounced around by the turbulence generated from the screen, just like the Fazer6 that I did my initial training on. That bike nearly put me off the idea of riding altogether. Feckin horrible!

Luckily I got the stock screen in the deal so I switched them and was thrilled with the result. Not only is it a better looking screen, it leaves the bike just as sweet to ride as the SV, in terms of wind blast. And the recommended suspension settings left the bike very compliant on the rural roads and thoroughly dependable in the corners. I felt more in tune with this bike after an hour than I did after a month on the SV.

I'm overjoyed with how the bike felt but one thing I did notice was the bike felt a bit lumpy at very low revs in traffic. Perhaps the fuel injected SV has me spoilt but is there anything I might be able to check/tweek to improve the (very) low rev running?

It pulls cleanly (like a fuppin train) at anything over 1500-2000rpm. That's thoroughly addictive by the way. What a power band!
