    Re: ZX9R B4 - USD Forks

I have radial calipered zx6r USD's on my bike.

using the zx9 bottom yoke and I got a custom top-yoke made with a 5mm drop.

this is still quite a bit shorter than standard, but hasnt upset the steering in my opinion - its quicker than standard, but isnt unstable at all.

you can fit the zrx wheel in and use standard discs, but will need to get spacers made to move the radial calipers further out as the zx6 discs are smaller.

main disadvantage is you loose the speedo drive - I now use a bicycle computer instead.

the advantage of this fitment is you can fit zx6/10 wheels - ZX6 are exactly the same sizes as the zrx - Zx10 has a wider rear wheel. ZX10 even uses the same bearings as the zrx - zx6 needs them swapped and an internal spacer made up (kendo did mine).

The mudguard from the 9 is certainly an acquired taste

IMHO standard look better and brackets easy to fab

I'll take some pics once i've got it on and we can debate! i needed a new mudguard anyway, as the original is now the wrong shade of green.... so i thought i might as well buy one that would fit straight on...

Hmmm, Never liked the zx9 mudguard on the Rex, but don't like the brackets that make the Rex mudguard fit the zx9 forks.......I think I like Alisters configuration.........

    ZX9

    Standard DSG

Yeah you're right. 9 muddy looks a bit iffy on Rex but each to their own or something.

They both have merit I guess... Nige, where would you get a set of those brackets if I wanted some?

    Re: ZX9R B4 - USD Forks

I had some laser cut and bent them up on a small folder but sent the last set i had to Terry

There is a template in the pitstop somewhere but as they are straight you get one half inside and the other outside the guard (and thus why i extended one side by 10mm and put a kicker in it so they are both on the outside)

IIRC hoof hearted bent his the other way so both arms fit inside the guard (that i think look a bit better) and maybe he also has a template

I don't have easy access to the boys who cut mine now so i guess its the grinder, drill and file for you

This be the basic template (of which i extended one leg by 10mm)
