    Question Header Gaskets

    Just a quick question please..

Taken out the exaust header gaskets, they're very thin as you would expect, about 1mm. The new ones are about 3mm, have a bought the correct gaskets? will they crush down to 1mm ?

    Cheers, windy.

    Windy,

Make sure you have someone to help you when you are refitting the headers.
It an absolute bugger of a job to get the rear M8 bolt exhaust mount on the sump to align, when you have fitted new exhaust header gaskets.

Totally agree with Pete on this one - you need to clamp up the headers a bit to squash the gasket flatter before the rear sump bolt will get close to lining up with the hole.
Extra pair of hands to steady is good.

Thanks Pete and Mark, a heads up like this will save time and frustration.. I'd better be nice to my other half, getting her on to her bacck in the bedroom is one thing, getting her on her back in a cold garage under the bike is gonna be near impossible..

Can't find torque settings for the header nuts.. I could feel my way I suppose, as long as the exhaust bolt hole under the engine lines up I guess it's just a case of working my way around the 8 of them until thay are snug + a turn.. ??

    Cheers
