Ha was happy to just get a ten as hadn't managed it at santa pod, there's always a bit of headwind and I'm told the track's slightly uphill compared to long marston! Definitely a bit easier with a slightly smaller rear sprocket though.

Yes seem to have at that place anyway, though I put it mostly down to the fact its easier that way to keep the front wheel down and get the clutch out quicker! Terminal speeds were more or less the same. Definitely not losing anything with a smaller rear sprocket anyway. I was thinking you might even get across the line without going for 4th (6 speed gearbox on mine) if you had a sprocket smaller still which would get rid of the delay of an unnecessary shift as its only a few metres before you get to the finish line.

another problem with lower gearing could be that you'd have to be spot on with short shifting to match the torque curve. Most rexes tq climbs steepest in the mid range, if you stay in the same gear after that point you're not going to be accelerating as fast as you would be if you were climbing the curve again (having changed up). Are you finding you are using less changes to achieve the better times with higher (taller) gearing?

My feeling with the rex 5 speed is that you'd want 4th early doors, and that's where you'd leave it.

you are just along for the ride in the second 1/8th .

Would a quick shifter help Chris?

Cheers I did a 1.6 60ft back in February, only problem was on the day there was a 15-20mph headwind and the terminal speeds were down about 8mph from normal so it only resulted in an 11.2 if I could just do that again I reckon could better the 10.9!
