Getting full service done this time and will look at getting a shim kit and do all work myself.
I will let you know what the clearances were like after 12k.
    Cheers

Got service done. They found 7 clearances were out of spec and had to be changed. I did have an issue starting it on occasions. When it got hot, it ran like a pig. Was fouling number 2 plug too. All possibly / probably caused by lack of clearance. Everything has been checked and bike runs as good as new. Total cost for the complete 12k service was $1050 AU$. I guess it is a relatively small price to pay for piece of mind. I will be getting myself a shim kit for next time. Luv the REX.

I ended up finding a receipt under the seat and the valves had been checked 14000km ago. So I had them done yesterday, glad I did, they were all too tight.

With titanium valves, they do invariably go tight rather than wide - that's why they never sound like they are out ..... but will burn out if left unchecked.

Pretty sure the Rex doesn't have titanium valves but the price big K charge for them, they should be!! I had to buy one a while back.

    Here's a clue why........

Putting the carbs back on I 'lost' the little bolt that held on the choke cable holder to the top of the carbs. I soon found out where it had gone tho' when I came to start up!!
We all have our bad days in the garage!

Were you able to salvage the little bolt.............or did you need to buy a new one?
