    Increasing fuel range.

When i was out last weekend, i had just hit about 120 miles when the bike started to stutter. I switched over to reserve and found a petrol station and filled up. Seems i had 6 lts in reserve, which seems a bit generous. So i reckon if i get the petcock off ( which i intend to do to replace the O rings ) then if i reduce the length of the fuel pipe i'll get more main tank range.

    Sound's logical to you chaps?

It will but you will doubly have to fit an inline fuel filter if you fuck the tank strainer whilst doing it and you don't have to remove the fuel tap to do an internal re-build unless of course you feel the need to change the tap base o ring as well.

    Why would you do that?
Your ultimate range would be the same, all you are doing is reducing your reserve tank range, one day you might be glad of an earlier warning!

I don't think the OP was asking opinion on the pro's and cons but rather if it would extend the main tank range

Never had an alarm that goes off a little early?

    Re: Increasing fuel range.

Something i posted a while back, just for info:

"Just cause i’m bored really but someone may find it useful, just drained and flushed my tank and rebuilt the fuel cock, filling it back up with a 5 litre fuel can which I fill when I pass a petrol station, first off my 5 litre can holds 6(ish) litres of fuel coming in at £7.90 (ouch), the first 6 litres took the fuel gauge to just above the red mark and the bike would run with the tap in the on position so the reserve is around 5 litres or as near as dam it ¼ off a tank, the next 6 litres took the gauge up to ½ full, so theres another 10ish litres till full by my reckoning (22 litre tank as I recall). So that explains why the gauge drops like a stone after ½ a tank is reached. Another 6 litres took the gauge up to just under full and my guess would be another 4/5 litres to full."
