Not sure if this is a switch problem or what but i turn my bike on (battery is good) press the starter but it can be dead press again and it will start sometimes i can press it ten times before starting (very embarrassing at the petrol station) i have stripped the switch gear down sprayed it with contact cleaner everything looks fine inside but still the same. could it be wiring or starter motor?

Check the battery connections, or dodgy earth

Also, welcome to the shite - pull up a pew, stick up some piccies (bike or lady friend, most on here don't mind which ), tell us more and above all - prepare for a bit of slagging (especially as you have asked for help before telling us anything about yourself)

Your aware of the two places where the loom chafes on the frame?

When it doesn`t turn over do the lights on the dash go dim ?

It could be the starter solenoid is sticking , if it happens again then give the solenoid a rattle and see if it turns over then , just do it with something non conductive.

Wiring around the HS is a known weakspot for the chaffing , try moving the bars to the other side and see if turns over then.

I recently had a very similar problem on my ttr. If I put a screwdriver across the terminals on the starter solenoid it would start everytime.Turned out I needed a new solenoid.

It might be worth checking the side stand switch, and maybe the clutch lever switch too.
