ZRXNIGE, this is what I mean. Like the colour, not the miles, or the price much....
Right I see what you mean but was a bit mislead when you said you had been to a classic jap owners meet

My mates has got one and says its the sort of bike he just puts his jeans on to go for a thrap about with as opposed to full gear when he takes his blade out (if that makes sense) but adds that if he could only have one, then it wouldn't be the Zed.

They are very small tho but you can get some smart as fuck bodywork for them (at a price)

My mrs had a 750 which was certainly built down to a price, suspension was lacking but is easily sorted with zx6r unit and fork conversion.
It was easier and cheaper to sell it an by a street triple.

Best advice is to ride one an see if it suites you.

    Re: Z1000

The new Z (any of them post 2004 as they are all lighter, have more power and fuel injection) is obviously going to be the better "practical every day go anywhere" tool over a ZRX. It should handle better, stop better and go better.

However, like most modern stuff, it's going to feel sanitized against a REX.

Why are people buying and selling RD350's like there life depends on it ?!?! Nostalgia and riding things that take some riding. Young 'dudes' would plumb for a KTM Duke 390 over an old LC anyday and it would be the better steed.....

As others have said.....ride the Z first. You may love it. But......you may also miss the presence, looks, bottom end grunt, carb delivery and soul of your ZRX

The mid noughties Z thou motor is basically ZX9, different ball park to the rex, more rev hungry. It was one of the first of the new breed of naked litre-ish bikes and by far the best Jap effort (the Europeans had the Superduke, Tuono, Speed Trip and assorted Monsters) and arguably has remained so. I think that first generation of new thous (03 - 06?) was the best looking. I would definitely go for one vs the 750.

The Z 750 was just too heavy, I think it was basically a sleeved down thou but if memory serves it was actually the heavier bike
