    Z1000

Before I bought me rex I looked at a Z1000, the 02 to 05 ish model with 4 into 4 pipes. Obviously I didnt buy that, I bought the rex.
I have no idea why I'm telling you lot this, maybe for some totally unbiased feedback. I went to a classic jap owners meet the other night, there was a z thou there, and I'm now smitten.
So pro's con's of selling the zrx, buying a Z1000.
    please........

Z1000 newer tech, better suspension (as stock), less weight, better brakes (as stock) fuel injection, broader appeal, loses money pretty quick as plenty about - Marmite looks.

ZRX - old skool, good looks, original and proper Kawasaki muscle bike, better graphics (unless you have a pink one), will become a classic in time, heavy, mediocre suspenders unless you upgrade 'em, mediocre brakes unless you upgrade.

If we are talking oldy-worldy Zed then you know the answer already

Shite brakes, shite handling and shite performance (by comparison) but people will stop, stare and say nice things to you about it whilst they reminisce.

I know several people who have sold modern to get the original "hooligan / iconic bikes" only to get very bored, very quickly once people have stopped saying nice things to them and they actually realise how shite they are

all in MHO of course but I guess it helps if your mates have them as well (if that makes sense)

ZRXNIGE, this is what I mean. Like the colour, not the miles, or the price much.....

Hootowl, agree totally with that, hate marmite but really do love the look of the std 4into4 pipes. Especially cut down ones.

Do really like the size & retro looks of the ZRX which is why I plumped for it.
At the time I was also considering the GSX1400 and the Z1000.

The z1000 is physically smaller, the gsx was at the time too pricey for a decent example. I had a top budget of 3k and wanted something that was in good nick. The gsx's at that money were ropey. Being tall and a fat fu*ker I opted for the rex over the z1000.

Having put a few miles on the rex, I've come to the conclusion that I think I prefer the looks of the Z1000, and due to the fact that It struggles to keep up with me mates in the twisties.
Mind it catches them on the straights, I've not even had it up to the red line, it has so much torque. Bloody well quick

I just think Im getting a bit peeved with it. I know I could throw some money at it, but as a hard up old git would rather put what little money I have towards a Zthou.
Think I may have answered my own question with these latest words.

Its good to hear other peoples opinions though.

    Please keep them coming...........

I had an A6F model one of the last of the 1st generation. I changed the pipes to a twin Quill set up and it sounded the dogs. For some reason I always found the bike itself a little bland to ride though. Sold it after 12mths and bought an RSV Mille.

Had the first A3 in black when it came out, buzzy engine, suspension and brakes just ok, poor finish, forgettable looks.
Rode a mates orange '03 only a little while back, no better with time.
