    ZRX LED tail light Q

Is anyone out there running an LED tail light -? I am wondering if they are bright enough to be effective.

All the adverts bang on about them being less bright but more vivid than normal bulbs, but in the real world - what the feck does that actually mean lol ?

and any photo's would also be good if ya have 'em

I fitted an LED rear light to another Rex, which I eventually sold to drrnjns.

A few of my mates commented on how it was not quite as bright as the standard bulb set up on my blue rex but I don't think that it was that bad as to cause a problem.

On the other hand, I did not use the integrated indicator set up because I personally find this idea poor, although some members in the OC do use that set up. For me, the slightly reduced brightness and the fact that the everyday motorist is not looking for your indicator inside your already red tail light was too much of a risk. So I retained the standard indicators with clear lenses and orange bulbs. If you want something slightly different, then why not fit ZX10R rear indicators, I have seen this done, they look good and retain the OE brightness!

I have followed a number of bikes which have after market LED tail lights fitted and there seems to be big variances in the quality and brightness.

Last year I did however fit a smoked LED light which I bought from a German company and I must say I am very pleased with it as it is certainly brighter than stock.

I had more confidence buying one from Germany where it met all the requisite test standards, than buying one from China which just says it does. It probably still came from China originally but was definately made to a good standard.
Just when you thought you had made it idiot proof.... along comes a higher class of idiot!

As said above. there are many different types and power outputs for LEDs.
My Multistrada has an LED headlight, which is mega bright, so best to try before you buy.

    That's a good point!

I have just looked at one and it does state that the integrated indicators are for show use and not approved for road use though!

So if you must, go for just tail/stop light fitment.

I've fitted one on my bike, which I also chopped the lens and frenched it in to make it more flush- the turn signals are integrated as well. Only thing I had to do was go get a 10w /10ohm resistor and wire it in.

Since this photo was taken I have since relocated the license plate down about an inch and trimmed some of the excess undertail plastic. Doesn't really matter to you UK / EU boys, as your plates are different then ours in the states- but just showing the finished tail light on my bike.. My favourite part is losing the turn signals sticking out- rally cleans up the profile of the tail fairing in my opinion! And yes, the LED's are plenty bright

I bought one from Wan King in China offa Ebay.
Its perfectly good n bright & I have wired the Flasher feature up to work AS WELL as my small LED indicators.............so no blind motorist behind can fail to see them !

By The Way....................The German one is also made in China.................they just charge more for it !!

I bought mine also from a German company. It was really troublesome to find one without those integrated indicators which I also think is not a good idea to have and might be too confusing to some road users to see that it's really an indicator blinking, not a brake light. Anyway the light was made under name Shin-yo and I found mine from a company called Motokay-scp. It even has an E-approval but I'm not sure if it's legit.. The light fits perfectly tho and seems slightly brighter than the original but the brightness is even which might make other ppl say that it's not as bright as the original bulb, dunno. The picture should say it all:
