yes but one of two things will happen when you register it for auto up dates
1) they will give it as a years free trial
2)ask you to pay for the years subscription

but you could do a search for avg anti virus you can get a free version which not to bad

hope this helps but RHM might give you better info

Try using Mozilla (not internet explorer) too - it has a pop up blocker built in. Try clearing the cookies too, and run an anti-spyware thingy while you're at it maybe (Ad-aware do a good free one....)

Internet Explorer 7 has a built-in pop-up blocker (and other safety features that clash with vBulletin until you disable them, ho-hum).

I refuse to let anything from Symantec/Norton onto any PC I owen or operate...

Be aware that after 2005 versions Norton requires activation, if you install on a second pc you only get the remaining amount of support days that the original machine has left so if you only have 2 months left on the original machine thats all you will get on another installation from that disc.

BTW

Anyone thinking of upgrading to 2007 NIS my advice is don't, although it boots up faster the excellent Ad-blocking facility is no longer there......... could it be something to do with the Yahoo tie-in it now seems to have, there seem to be too many programs out there these days that want you to install the Yahoo toolbar.
