I might seem a bit dim but i can't work out how to get into the speedo to replace the bulb(s). It's a 2001 ZRX1100. One side of the speedo is lit but is dim and the other side has no light at all. I've tried un-screwing the screw in the end of the casing but that didn't seem to free anything up :nope: I don't want to go pulling or twisting anything too hard without knowing what i'm doing. There's nothing in the handbook about getting into the clocks either which is really helpfull

According to the 1200 manual (should apply to the 1100 as well) there are 3 screws on the back of the clocks which all need removing along with the trip meter knob. This should get you in there. Looks like you need to remove your fairing and clocks first.
See pics.

I'm lucky in that i don't have a fairing but the 3 screws will explain it! I was attempting to just remove the speedo casing without touching the rev counter as i would have done on my bandit.. looks like i have to remove the lot in one go. Thanks Gremlin :teeth:

Saw a thread on the old site listing LEDs instead of bulbs, it gave the description and sizes and looked better than the standard bulbs, which seem to go often
Perhaps one of the Techie Bods on the site can recall the item and post it on the new site?
LEDs last longer than bulbs and you can get them in new exciting colours...
Wish I printed the thread out myself now.... :o:

Sounds interesting... Saying that, i quite like the displays as they are with Green markings.

On the the yank www.zrxoa.org/ site there is a link to the guy who supplies the l.e.d's, with a handy set of instructions for stripping the clocks, with lots of nice pictures.
