Yes, I had one on my Ducati supersport, it collected a FRIGHTENING amount of metal which would otherwise have been swilling about in the oil. Dont know whether thats just Ducati build quality though!! :hmm:

Ive had them on several bikes...they were on there when i bought the bikes. Cant say that i ever noticed any foreign bodies collected on them,so i wouldnt bother. If you feel that it would be beneficial, buy one...it certainly wont do any harm... :)

I've also seen a magnetic device that fits somehow to your oil filter for the same purpose. No good on the Rex 'cos the filter fits internally but for any bike fitted with the external canister type filter would be a good idea.

As Snoopy says, it can't do any harm. :thumb:

As Snoopy says, it can't do any harm

Unless the magnet drops off the bolt, gets mashed and sucked into the oil pump for distribution around the engine :mut:

Had one of these on my 'Grandley Powerless SS10' in the early 30's. It was very useful, tho the bike did handle strangely on tram tracks. It collected all the iron filings out of the engine, and Edna Furbottoms teeth :blahblah: worked wonders it did but then i went to the South Pole and it reversed polarity, sent all the metal back into the case, and shot 2 penguins :blahblah: so that young :purge: is right to draw your attention to these :blahblah: cough oops seem to have spilt me brandy ;)

:hmm: Wouldn't the filter grab the iron filings anyway?
