Took a ride over to the Kawasaki dealer on Saturday to collect the parts from them and then spent part of the afternoon taking the front wheel off - again - to fit the new speedo sender brass bushy thing. Didn't need to use the circlip I'd bought so that's now added to my little stash of spares. Nice to use the circlip pliers I bought 15 years ago...

This afternoon, I finally fitted the ex-Gibbo ZRXOC Akra full system. The way I figure it, the bike was running too rich with the Akra end can, so the full system might lean it off a bit without running too lean.

I couldn't get to the header bolts even with the radiator swung out a bit, so I had to disconnect the nearside hose and swing it further out which meant refilling the rad afterwards. Fits well - er, I hope - and the spring puller tool recommended by :kwakapal: made fitting them an absolute doddle. I just have to get used to the extra heat retention of the titanium silencer instead of the carbon fibre end can.

Went over to Michael the Blandit Rider's house for a shakedown ride and arranged to head down to the Ace next Sunday morning with Ian the ZZR1100 rider, Tony the Z1000 rider and Slim on Tony's ZX9. We're also taking our kids with us, so I'm going to refit the pillion pegs and make sure Amy fits my old Nessies and Craft helmet.

Can't see why it was running rich with the Akra end-can unless the air filter is dirty / blocked. The Akra can is less restrictive than the OEM can so can't make it run richer.

In this case, just fitting the full Akra won't help as the restriction will be at the intake filter end.

Get a K&N, bin the snorkel and fit some 104 or 106 mains and unleash the beast!

So those Akra headers must be the one's you sold me originally

Full dyno fettling will take place after Donington with a full service at the same time. K&N, Dynojet and snorkel away then.

I was pretty gobsmacked about it running rich too.

Oh and i think you're spot on that the Akra was the one I bought that went to you that went to :gibbo: that came back to me
