Just finished fitting 2 single bates style headlights .
Do you need side lights for an MOT if so can any bodged light sat on the top of them readty to rip out after MOT be sufficient as long as the sidelight is lit via the standard fitted switch .:ysam:

Is the city light on our ZRX 'R's just for the MOT?
:hmm: The Yanks dont have them so my guess is the sidelight is part of our MOT

yep you need sidelights, and yes a small lamp wire to park switch will suffice.
Although it would be alot easier to fit bates c/w sidelight(just my opinion:dunno:) if you like the look of what you've got. Jooles has them his look good

No you do not need "side lights". If they are fitted they must work. You must have both dip and main deam on the lights. This can be acheived by one light as main and the other dipped.
If I am wrong then ALL my MOT's on bikes have been wrong. The "side light" on the ZRX is to get round the US lights on laws.

The fact that you have a position on the light switch means that they are fitted and should work. Perhaps your MOT testers have turned a blind eye due to you being a big fella and liable to give them a :nads:

Nah never even been asked for it. I've had indicator switches on my bike but they have never been fitted.
Mind you I have been known to be on good terms with my MOT chaps, the current one is a member of the local HA,
