i find the rubber ones filled with air are best for "genral" use.
however, the wooden ones tend to last longer.
not sure of "pirelli". i thought george best was better. :rotf:

If you have a look at the very first forum in this section, :gremlin: has writen a very good section about frequently asked questions and there is a good peice on tyres.
However, it would appear that the most common tyre in use at the moment are Bridgestone 020's.
As a passing thought, IMHO tyre manufactures go to great lengths to match tyres front and rear so prehaps its not adviseable to mix and match Gone are the days of mixing roadrunners and TT100's

Got Pirelli Diablo Strada's on at the moment. Bought them for the French trip in May, worked brilliantly, blasting around the roads back home, briliant again. Great in the wet...best tyres I've had so far.

I was a BT20 fan but thought I would try some Conti Road Attack for a change.
Once I managed to get the tyre pressures sorted (had some duff info when I got them) I am well impressed. IMO, it hold corners better than an 020 in the dry but I have not pushed them in the wet yet.

I've got Metzeler Roadtec Z6's on my 1100. Absolutely superb tyres. Stable, grippy, warm up quickly and suit the ZRX's chassis perfectly.

have a try of the shiko's mate
05 on rear and 03 on front, one of the only true 100% radial tyres on the market, warm up well, retain heat well and are excellent in the wet as well.
but if price is no option then go for the stickiest avons you can get and have a blast (its what we use on the gsx1400 drag bike over here)

I use Diablo's, (they're neither strada's nor corsa's, they're the one in between). They are very good, loads of grip, and more feel than the Bridgestones. Don't seem to take to long to warm up either. I have had a front wheel lock up with them on, but this was from a 120mph emergency stop (pheasant wandering onto the apex) and they stayed tracking straight even throughh the skid. Top tyres :thumb:

Jacadac I've just had Road Attacks fitted as well, what was the problem with the pressures?

I've still got the original Bridgestones on mine and not really given them any stick yet.
On the SV650 forum the Conti Road Attack and Metz Z6 were both getting good reports and the Road Attacks are cheaper than most others.

I'm doing 25000miles a year on my zrx and i've tried a few different types of tyre so far. The best has been the metzeler z6 roadtec which i got 8500miles out of the rear 10000 out of the front. Remember i'm an instructor so you have to ride around like your grandma would to acheive this. The tyre has no centre tread pattern around the rear tyre which is good for me cause i spend most of my time upright. However, towards the end of it's life it only took 50 miles to strip the tyre to the metal so keep an eye on it.
I've also tried the bridgestone and dunlop sp7 which both performed about the same (6000 rear). But it didn't take long to tear the side tread off the dunlops.
Hope i helped
Ta-Tar
PS the pirelli sales rep recommended the roadtecs as well!!

I'm doing 25000miles a year on my zrx:hail: That makes my feeble effort of 23000 miles in 2 1/2 years pale into insignificance and that is considered by many to be high mileage.
I agree that once the tread is worn, the last bit seems to disappear ovenight. One rear tyre was well worn before a 4 day blast around Scotland last year and I thought the trip woild finish it off.
 It was almost a slick by the time I got there, never mind touring around and getting home again.
I forgot to take into acount the extra weight of pillion, luggage and the half dozen bottles of Whisky we bought back with us. ;)

Was told 42, 42 (National Tyres) and was not happy and the pressures for the ZRX was not on the Conti Website, so I had a play around. Once I got to being happy with 36, 42, I went back to the Conti website and lo and behold, the correct info was there to backup what I got to anyway.
No harm done and a happy with the tyres but doubt I will go back to National again.

Oh right Benji...i''ll try something else. Thought they looked a bit narrow on my ZRX (100/90 front & 120/90 rear)...maybe i should change them. My mates got some Avon Speedmasters on his BSA Gold Star. I might try some on my ZRX... :nope:

I too use these Metzelers and they are great for most conditions. I ride fairly hard year round, am a big guy (heavy) and mine have given acceptable wear on the rear (5500+) and over 8k on the front. FYI: I am using stock sizes front and rear.
Good price usually too!
