Hi, I've just bought a ZRX1200 and found this club so hello to everyone! I've owned over 70 bikes so far and this is certainly near the top of the list for fun and noise........
Now the "help" bit, I got the bike from a fairly big dealer so I assumed it is all as it should be but I'm worried it's been crashed. It's an '03 model in Eddie green but doesn't have the nose fairing, did they make the green ones with the round headlight and "naked" or have I got a repaired one?? Help!!

Have a look at your log book, there are 3 models of 1200, the naked with no fairing is a 1200N, the bikini fairing is a 1200R and the larger fairing is the 1200S. If your logbook says it is a 1200R it has lost its fairing.

The fairing could have been damaged by a drop from the sidestand or could have been removed because the previous owner prefered the look of the N but couldnt find one, the N's are much harder to find.

With your biking experience I'm sure you gave it a good check over, welcome to the board.

Thanks for that, it rides fine and has no other signs of damage but the bars have been replaced with renthals. The log book doesn't seem to be much use, it says it's a ZR 1200 A3P, does that mean anything?

Renthals are a popular choice and doesn't mean anything on its own. Can't help with those numbers from your logbook mine isn't at hand so maybe someone else could help.

Mines an 1100R, the side panel just says ZRX 1100, doesn't the 1200R have 1200R on the side panel?

(thread moved to General ZRX posts to get more help)

From inside front cover of Owners Manual:

ZRX1200R : ZR1200-A
ZRX1200S : ZR1200-B
ZRX1200 : ZR1200-C
Yours is (or was) a 1200R, Hux. A3P, does that mean anything?
A = model (1200R)
3 = last digit of year of manufacture
P = unrestricted as far as I know

Welcome to the site BTW. :lager:

Ok panic over! Thanks for all your replies, armed with this information I contacted the dealer again and he forgot to tell me that it is an "R" model and he has all the standard parts. Not sure how you could "forget" that! But all seems ok now. It has a full system not just a race can on it which explains why it was so "entertaining" riding it home in the wet last night!

Nice one, I believe the nose fairing is something daft like £400 when painted and are like rocking horse poop to find so if you decide to sell it you will get good money.

Thanks for all the welcome messages! I think my original parts would've ended up on ebay..........

I am certainly up for the Ace Cafe and any other meets / ride outs, are there any particular meeting points or runs for the South as I live near Brighton?

REXER

We are an informal club so we only have a small number of "organised meets", if you want a meet around Brighton, post a time and place in the rideout and meets forum. Pretty soon you will have a number of people adding to the list.

Just fitted the original bikini fairing back on and at the risk of upsetting anyone, it looks much better! Anyone out there want the single headlight conversion parts?

Just finished cleaning and polishing it with the lovely bikini fairing on and it is looking gorgeous! Been for a quick spin to try and scub in the new tyres, all a bit twitchy in this weather..... Role on summer!
