They are now trying to destroy the Honda Cub...... pretty much like Top Gear did with the Toyota pick-up....

they've swapped the engine oil for old chip fat and it still runs

The Brough Superior, if you ever get the chance. Have a look at the SS100 at the bike museum at Brum, now that is a thing of beauty.

As for some of the others, no thanks...

The claim by Brough when it was made, was that it was so stable, it could be riden at 100 mph no-handed......and the test rider on the program did just that....on a 70 year old bike ....

100mph no-handed is simple. A real test would be 5-10mph no handed. The Honda Cub deserves first, coz its useful to millions. The Jetbike is just another boring straightliner, tho the idea of melting the car behind is quite appealing :)

I agree it would be relatively easy now. However, the Brough was made between 1925 and 1940, and at a time when most bikes would struggle to top 80mph. So in it's day it was still a remarkable achievement.

Did anyone see the one in MCN this week. Purchased by the national bike museum, for £90,000. My Grandad, used to have a Brough. Don't think it was one of the SS100's, whether it was or not. I wish it had been kept in the family..

Agree about top speed Mick, but I was commenting on stability. Brough's are indeed lovely bikes, and produced some of the more interesting engineering solutions pre-war (twin rear wheels with a shaft running between them, gap between wheels 1", normal two-wheeler steering anybody :) ) :thumb:

What a load of crap.

So it runs on Shite, So what?

ive owned my little cub 90 for years now & i still use it daily..£3 fills it up & i can run it around on that for weeks..cant remember the last time i put tyres or chain & sprockets on it but ive just taxed it again for a year at....£15!!...oh forgot to mention that the big ends have been knocking since november & it will still pull an eye watering 50mph on the flat & even in all that snow we had she still got me to work & back with no problem which was fun!...hmmm must get round to fixing that big end sometime..everyone should own a cub atleast once in their life..:bike:
