Just thought I'd introduce myself, my name is John and I'm here in Austin, Texas with a newly aquired 2001 zrx 1200. Really look forward to being a member here.

Greetings mate, welcome to the OC.

Hope its warmer in the lone star state than it is in Britain at the moment.

Thanks, yeah it's pretty nice here. What they call a cold front here in Texas (barely below freezing) just blew in but the sun's out and it's about 50F not bad. in about a week or two the winter will pretty much be over here, not a bad place to have a bike!

Welcome aboard, you will like the guys on this site-they are all good fallas.

Love the blue/black ZRX1200R.

I had the peasure of trip to Stephenville in 2008, a couple of hours ride west of Fort Worth-had a great time.

Come here often, you'll like it.

Thanks for the response guys. One of the things that I think I need to do right away is to get some frame sliders. I hope the bike never touches the ground, but they seem like cheap insurance. I know there's a guy on the oa that sells them. What are your recommendations? I saw these on amazon, price is right but I'm not sure.

Hi John,
Welcome to the mad house!! Re the sliders I'd definitely go for those for that money, if they look like crap when they arrive you could always out them on evilbay - might even make a buck or too!

Yeah I guess I'll just order those sliders, when I get them I'll post about their quality. My only concern is if they're not strong enough and the bike topples. We'll see. I better go post on the oa to meet some people from Austin.

Thanks all for the welcomes, I wussed out and didn't get the amazon sliders, went ahead and got the ones off the oa. I don't want to have to be worried about wether or not my sliders will hold up.

Howdy from just alittle north of you..craving some Amy's Ice Cream too and a trip to Driftwood for the Saltlick

You made the right choice on the sliders, they've been tested by many on the OA, even one who went down at about 120 mph at the dragstrip. he rode his bike home, ebay ones...well, let's just say having a spare engine would be a good idea.
