Based on an idea by Hackneymanz from the old board, where did you start, and how did you get to the Rex?

Bloody hell a memory test.
The year in brackets is the year/s i owned it not the year of manufacture.

Yamaha YAS125 (1973) crashed
Yamaha YS250 (1973) blew up
Triumph 250 Trophy (1974)
Triumph 500 Speed Twin (1975) sold for a fiver
Kawasaki Z400(1975)
Kawasaki Z900 (1977)
Kawasaki Z1000 (1977) bought it could'nt touch the floor kept falling off owner for 6 weeks
Kawasaki Z900 (1977)
Suzuki TS125 (1980) Took it to Gibraltar with me (bought for 90 quid at Bracknell auctions sold for 450 in Gib) (Could have got more but needed a quick sale as some argies decided I was needed in the South Atlantic)
MZETZ250 (1983) seized solid at 65mph (and still the only bike I've ever got a speeding ticket on)
Suzuki GS550M (1984)
Honda CB250 Superdreams x 3 (1984-1989) the lean years
Yamaha XS250 (1990)
Kawasaki Z400 (1991) although it was an original 1975 model
HONDA VT500 (1996) bought this as a present to myself when I left the RN will rate as the worst decision I've ever made. Although I actually owned it for four years it spent 2 1/2 of them off the road.
Kawasaki W650 (2000) The one and only bike that was brand new when I got my hands on it.
Kawasaki ZRX1200S (2003 - present) Not many of the above made me smile like this one does every time I open the garage door, and I certainly didn't lavish the time and money on them like I do my REX.

Started about 14 with-
James 250
Lambretta 200
AJS 350
C90

Got on the road at 16 on a SS50 (pissed off with the fizzie/AP50 boys going faster so put a C90 top end on it)

Past test at 17 on a CB175 (later fitted with a 240 Jock kerr conversion) but it blew up.

New 125 learner laws meant that 250's could be had for peanuts,so for a couple of years it was a selection of RD's,KH's etc, most blew up.

First proper bike was a CB900 at 19 but had to sell it after wife got pregnant and buying first house.

Others to follow-
GT 380 (lovely bike)
GT750 kettle (3-1 piper sounded great but crap for power)
KH 400 (always jumped out of second gear)
S3 400 (faster than the KH)
CB650
XS850
Z650
ZR-7 (still got it, Deb rides it)
ZRX 1200S first ever new bike

Yamaha DT125LC passed test
Yamaha 350LC excellent bike except when it seized at over 100mph leaving a 100ft skid mark(road and pants) b4 i could pull the clutch in.
Honda CB750kz swapped the elsie for it, alfa 4-1 no baffle had to sell b4 i went deaf along with anybody within a 1/2 mile radius.
Kawasaki Z500 in elr colours and stepped seat
Honda CBX750F my first truely reliable bike until a car took it out along with my leg, six years without a bike while court case went on and on and on.
Kawasaki ZX10 really fast and handled better than it looked, derestricted then gas flowed and bored out, single seat unit, ohlins etc, went everywhere at warp speed
Honda CBR600FM bought as second bike to zx10, girlfriend(ex) used it
Yamaha YZF750 sold cbr bought this still had zx10
Suzuki TL1000s sold yzf after girlfriend split, bought this new one of the first ones in uk, made 128bhp at wheel, amazing bike had to sell it as i had 9 points
also sold the zx10
Kawaski GT550 my first courier bike, engine reliable rest of it was crap. aslo bought a 1984 Z1100R which had some dubious mods and a shocking paint scheme,
BMW750 LT 2nd courier bike, comfy reliable sold it after 180k
BMWK100 LT 3rd courier bike same as above but faster(a bit) had cd/radio 180k
Honda ST1100 4th courier bike brilliant bike, handled really well although limited ground clearance, engine still good after 190k though swingarm had rotted thru, broke it and sold on ebay for nearly wot i paid for it a year b4
Current bike Z1100R bought back to life, quite modded just needs flatsides and 1170 kit and the engine repainting, won't sell it. trying to save for a rex as second bike.

The H2 and the Superhawk were my two shortest ownerships by a matter of months. The H2 was too scary, and the Superhawk I wasn't mature enough to enjoy.
My ZReX is by far the longest I have ever owned any vehicle, not just motorcycles. It is fairly well modded and mildly streetfightered (is that a word?).
My newest love is my SV1000. I now am mature enough (barely) to enjoy the V2 torque and love the exhaust note. Plus it is allowing me to get a little crazy with my ZReX

Thank God nobody was listing dirt bikes and quads.

2001-Aprilia Falco-still got this one. A toy, and a far better bike than I am a rider. And nowhere near as much fun as my Rex.

4) Bakker/kawa1100 - will get gsxr1100w's engine, forks, wheels

Had an SS50 @16, crashed it so often I can't remember how many times. Should have learned about riding in the snow back then. :knock: Didn't list it at first, in The Netherlands 50cc bikes are classed as bicycles with an auxilary engine. So I didn't have to pass a test for it, nowadays there's a written exam on traffic rules though.

1980
-1970(?) Yamaha 250cc 2 stroke scrambler. Think it was a YDS
- eventually dropped a cylinder, had no skills , gave it to bike shop as a project

1982
- 1977 Yamaha XS650. Pretty bike, flexy frame. Got me around, traded it for a snowmobile when electrical gremlins and arrival of the "S" crowded it out

1984
- 1984 Honda CB700SC. Only vehicle ever bought new. Kept it forever, now has 65k miles. Engine in teardown, replacing cam+alt chains. Won a trophy at 2004 White Rose vintage japanese show!

2002
- 1973 Honda CB450K4. Gift, in boxes from colleague with MS who can't ride anymore. Stalled rebuild when found bent valves, distracted by "S" projects

2002
-1970 Rupp minibike. Bought from friend for $100, as a gift for daughter - she doesn't want it! Learned some bodywork on it's dingy tank. Installed 5hp motor. Fun bike, will be pit bike when my MotoGP ride arrives.

Well, it all began when I was 4 years old.
My brother and dad were always making deathtrap ramshackle bikes, trikes, go-karts etc, and 'cos I was the kid, I was also the test pilot.
It got the bug into my blood early, and it has stuck.
History goes like this.....
(I'm sure there were others that I've forgotten.)

Engine from a Phillips moped (motorised bicycle) attached to my bicycle by my brother when I was 4.
Home made bike with NSU Quickly engine, made by my dad and brother for me, also when I was 4. Beautifully painted up with 'Easy Rider' Stars 'n' Stripes tank.
Puch maxi moped. Cut down so I could reach the ground, and eventually made into a trike when I was about 5 or 6.
Malaguti 50 scrambler.
Several assorted Honda C50, 70 and 90 step thrus. At least 8 that I can think of!
Kawasaki KC100
Honda XL100
Honda CD175
Honda CB125 S. Two of them.
CZ175 weirdo trail bike thing with combo kick-start and gear lever. Used to spit back through the carb and go on fire on a regular basis.
Honda CJ250
Kawasaki KX125 moto-x
Triumph 3TA. My dad gave me it in bits as a project to build.
Honda CR125 moto-x
Kawasaki Z250A (twin)
Honda XL250
Beta 440 moto-x. Huge great big tall thing. Could never reach the ground.
Honda CB400/4
Honda VFR750
Suzuki GS1000S
Kawasaki Z1000J
Suzuki GSX1100EFE
Yamaha TDR250. Still got it.
Kawasaki ZRX1100. Still got it too (obviously), probly always will.

Triton ( 1955 Speedtwin in a 1959 Featherbed 1st years of production for both I believe).
Changed above to an all iron pre-unit Bonneville engine after the crankshaft broke.

BSA 500 (B34 ?) nice original army green.

Guzzi SP 1000 MkI

number of hired CB250 wet dreams and a CX500 placcy maggot whilst I was a 'spatcher
Some 'orrible V twin 500cc Honda thing with an inboard front brake. Had to be push started everywhere and usually only fired on one cylinder....
Honda NTV650 - stonkin' bike (at the time - 50k miles in just over a year without missing a beat)
Yamaha Fazer Mk1
Honda CBR1000FV - awesome and hyper quick!
Yamaha TT600R - trick Euro off roader with Paioli USD's, Ohlins + Brembo - nicked by some scumbag and wrecked....
CCM604 Dual Sport Supermoto - very amusing bike, rode 'round sports bikes in the wet on ultra sticky race rubber! Loud as fook too.
Yamaha Fazer FZ6 - brand spankers but not enough torque :\
Kwak ZRX1200S - lovely bike from what I've ridden so far, needs a smidge of tweaking though to get the best from her .... roll on the Spring!

Motorcycle history - not necessarily in the right order
CB200 Honda - shiny brand new - great little bike
Z400 Kwacker twin - lovely shade of blue - also shiny brand new but not for long - wrote it off when a company rep in a cortina did a u turn in front of me (the older guys will remember them)
Z400 again - many moons later when my leg had been repaired - This one was black complete with rickman fairing and boxes - bought it off a would be middle aged biker who had it 5 minutes then fell off and decided cars were much safer.
Then came 2 or 3 Z650s in varying shades of tattiness.
Then 2 GT750 shafties the first of which was possessed by the devil and had to go before it killed me.
Then GPZ900 - a classic - the only bike I never crashed/dropped. Kept it 10 years
Finally ZRX1200S - any colour you like as long as it's silver. Still mostly belongs to the bank.

Honda C90 - Had to get one because Honda were struggling to sell enough of them ;)

Honda CB125 - Solid as a rock - never missed a beat in the two years I owned it.

Yamaha RD250E - 90mph crash while wearing only a wool jersey (not even a tee shirt) jeans and naturetrek shoes (remember them, had a bit of the Cornish pasty look about them :) )

Kawasaki KH250 - Looked and sounded beautiful but sadly not as fast as the RD which is the main thing especially when you're 18.

Yamaha XS650 - Good bike but I didn't really look after it and eventually sold it for a song.

Kawasaki Z650B1 - I loved this bike. It looked the business especially after rebuilt after crash with Z900A4 front end, Alpha 4-1 and rear mudguard removed)

Kawasaki Z250 - Purple with yellow frame ...... I wasn't me m'lud !

Suzuki GT380 - A shed... and funnily enough it went about as fast as my garden shed.

Harley 1200 Sportster - What was I thinking ? Never again !

Kawasaki Z1000B2 (red) - Hitchhiked to Bournemouth (of all places) to buy this and rode it back to Scotland same day. B*gger knows what I'd have done if it hadn't been worth buying .... hitch home I guess.

Kawasaki Z1000B2 (Green- the fast colour :) ) - Loved the red one so much I had to have another as soon as finances allowed.

:zrx: - and here we are today .... ZRX1200R I think it's a C3

You'll notice Kawa are strongly represented in the above list. I have found certainly with me and my friends and acquantances that Kawa seems to have a stronger brand loyalty than may others i.e. buy a Kawa and you're more likely to buy another one.

It's been a long and interesting ride to get to here. I now keep photos of all my cars, motorcycles and pedal bikes .... just for nostalgia's sake you understand but I wish I had started earlier and had photos of these old KHs & RDs etc. Never mind.

Suzuki GT50; i was sixteen and it looked like a real motorbike(shame it was slower than a lawnmower)

Yamaha AS3; Chopped frame, TS250 forks, BSA tank, chrome sissy bar(no mot-ever)

Suzuki A100; Rebuilt from a f/end smash with bits that didn't quite fit..........(then it blew up)

Honda CB200; Green, boring, has anyone ever made a cable operated disc stop a bike?

Honda C90; The transport of the unemployed.

Suzuki GSX250; The transport of the employed on low wages. Never a problem with electrics?

Kawasaki KL250; Rebuilt from a wreck, sold it to get money for my class one licence.

Kawasaki KE100; Great little traillie/commuter.

Honda CB750K7; Rebuilt after buying in bits, always problems with electrics?

Suzuki GSX750ET; Spent loads, Metmachex, custom paint, powder coated everything, got bored, sold as an unfinished project.

Yamaha XT250; A pile of poo that i wish i'd never set eyes on.

Kawasaki KLR650; Bought for £700, had it for nearly a year daily commuting, sold it for £1400, Yippee!!

Hi

Mine started with an RM125 over the fields

then a puch maxi in the garden

first bike on the road (legal) a yamaha 80 can't remember the model
quickly followed by a Suzuki GT250 S reg on L-plates. had to do the two part test on it.

rode others briefly, RD250LC, RD200-X5, 400/4,

but then went with a bike that was ace at the time and went really well for it's size. A W reg Kawasaki Z550 with a lazer 4into1 on it. had this for about 6 years or more.

then i had a V reg Kwack Z1000 for about 4 or 5 years, was a Z1R but with the classic Z1 bodywork, also had a Yam XT350 for a couple of years for the winters.

then a new GPz500s in late 1994, quickly followed by a new GPz1100 in early 1995.

got my current ZRX11 (new) in August 1997.
got my current 2004 Ducati 998s FE in Feb 2005
got my Sreg ZX-7R Track bike (needed TLC and parts) in Oct 2005

That's it for now

didn't realize till I got older how much I missed it vibration no real suspension and all
Suzuki GS550 (she stuck like glue in the twisties)
700 cc Honda Magna
1100 Honda Shadow (torque till tomorrow)
Honda XR400R
2000 ZRX 1100 (I'm in love)

Not had that many bikes I guess, but they have all ended up looking rather "used"...

Honda CM250T - cutom/crusery style wet dream abomination - dropped a valve doing an indicated 90mph on the M8 motorway near glasgow. My tame mechanic (who used to spanner for various race teams) gave me 11 out of 10 for that blow up - one piston was fine, the other looked like a pizza with bits of spark plug and valve stem all over it. Still got it as an ornament...

Yamaha XJ600S Diversion - Had that for 7 years and put nearly 85000 miles on it. Rode it through 7 Scottish winters and I loved it. I ended up hating the thing coz I would ride it 60 miles to work and back and have to drain out lots of emulsified oil... Very strange.

2003 ZRX1200R (green of course) - I'd dreamed of getting one since I first saw the 1100. Loved Rex. Had this one 6 months and 3 days till a front tyre blowout caused me and the bike to part company on the A1. Rex died at the scene of the accident. I was off work for 6 months having done a reasonable job of smashing myself to bits.

Yamaha XJ600S Diversion -very tatty looking bike given to me be a friend when I was bikeless and the ex-wife was too interested in what she must have to think that I might like a bike. Rode around on the divvy for a year until I had got enough cash together for a proper bike.

2005 ZRX1200r (green of course) - Got this one (like the last one) brand new. Asked the dealer to take the old divvy as part ex. He said he'd give me 100 quid for it. I struck a better deal - traded the old divvy for a nice titanium akroprovic can to go on the new bike. Got the bike on the dyno as soon as possible and got the new can on. My tame mechanic was disappointed to see that the baffle in the can fell out when he was fitting it ;) Had the bike nearly a year now and its only just got 2000 miles on it.

I've just read through this thread and realised I haven't posted on it, so here goes...

Did my part one on a Honda CG125, end of june 1991, (the last part one's before the all new CBT) same bike for test on 4th July 1991... then straight on to the second of my GS550E's ....

had ridden AP50 (16-17)
GP100 then upgraded to 125 head, piston and barrel, (18-19)
X7, X5, GT380, first of my GS550E's, and GS750S (20-24) pre passing my test, none of them on the road though ...;)

after the second GS550E i moved on to CBR600... bit of a break, ZX6, ZX7 (stillgot the 7) the REX ... plus all the others currently in my garage (http://www.zrxoc.com/board/showthread.php?t=5834)...AR125, ZXR750H2, :blahblah:

RD50 piece of junk, wouldn't start one day and to best of my knowledge never ran again.

MT50 my only Honda, got me to work.

RG125 (GAMMA) first bike, took the exhaust of tapped out the washer and got a genuine 80-85ish out of her.

X7 didn't own this one long, it was in a bit of a state.

RD350YPVS Young Posers Velocity System, Awsome, real 2 stroke screamer hit the power band and it took off like a scalded cat. Strange electrics in the wet, indicators would flash diagonally and going from dip to full beam could result in total headlight failure (had a few frightening moments overtaking at night in the wet!!!:headbang:). Lobbed it at the scenary early one morning.

GPZ550 piece of junk, worst bike i ever owned, siezed it up and blew the crank very suitable ending to the dam thing (being fair i bought a lemon). Swore i'd never own another Kwacker ever!:bum:

GSX600FJ nice bike very poor handling, Lobbed it at the scenary late one night bust me collar bone and a couple of ribs in the process.

GPz750R fell in love with this bike, 16 inch front wheel excellent machine, had her a good few years, even sold her and bought her back.

Two bedroom house, own garage and garden. SKINT!!!

XS400 bought as a fixer upper, but just couldn't afford to put her on the road.

TTR250 bought 2 years ago, great bike just very underpowered, ideal winter commuter/dirt bike.

Read all the posts to date - :hmm: that's a lot of bikes :bike:
Here's my wee list:

C90 or 70 in the fields
AP50 also in the fields & shared with brothers
CB100 built by self and friend (who did most of the work! :hail: ) It was stolen within 2 weeks of becoming legal on the road
RD80LC yellow! Great wee bike at the time
Z250A Kork Ballington Replica - cos it was green. Pinched from brother when not working. It kept rearranging its internals without my permission. Bits live on in other bikes
RD200 flying skateboard
DT175 pinched from my brother who stripped it and left it the garden
GSX400 Laser pipe sounded good but a piece of sh1t
RD350LC seized then rebuilt with borrowed money & then thieving effers
CB400N stolen from yet another brother when not working and traded in for
GPZ500S kept it for about 10years
Ducati 600SS for the last 3 years of the above. Traded in for
1200 Bandit was killed by a Corsa. Got me a year off work, some metal in my leg and screwed up insides, legs, back & head
Biggest break in my biking life  about 6 or 7 weeks not even on the back of a bike. 6 months after the acident I took my crutches and credit card to the bike shop. My mate had to ride home the:
ZRX400 to get me on the road for for 2 or 3 months. Loved it, so 3 years later bought the:
ZRX1100 which I still have (shame about the licence if so much as fart on the motorway) along with the wee ZRX and mashed up Bandit

I think I might have missed 1 or 2, but that's most

Harley/Aermacchi two stroke 250 enduro, late 70's. I could have treated her better.

Kawasaki H1 500 triple 1972 orange. fast and handled like a dream. . . . nightmare that is.

Yamaha XS650 1972. burgundy nice comfy bike. had a compression release for starting which was quaint.

Honda CB750 1969. Over 50K on that bike.

Yamaha 650 special 1981. Stone reliable but not special

Suzuki GT750 triple 1976, Strader 3 into 1 pipe Supertrapp muffler, port work. Fast, reliable passable handling. Many miles racked up on this one. Great old bike.

Honda 750K 1979, good reliable bike.

Suzuki GS750 1979 bought it after it had been backed once and rear ended. used a floor jack to straighten it out, painted it flat black, put a sheepskin seat cover on it and took off for the coast. about 5000 miles later, gave it to a friend who need transportation.

Honda 350 Scrambler cool little bike.

Kawasaki KZ750LTD 1981, Nice looking, fast, horrible handling.

Yamaha Seca 750 1982 Great looking, stable, reliable, comfortable, handled great, shaft drive. Awesome bike.

Suzuki VX800 1989 great looking, plenty of power, handled great, super for commuting or sport touring. Loved that motor.

Suzuki GS1150E 1985 Red/black. Hugely powerful, Fast, stable, comfortable, reliable. A favorite ride.

ZRX1200R GREEN 2001. OMG. Everything the 1150 had plus handling. WOW. Head over heals in love with this one.

There were a couple of other odds and ends over the years, A 650 Triumph basket case that never left the basket. A couple of smaller Hondas. . . . .

Always had fun.

Honda C70, my first 'bike'. It was a do upper from a bikeshop that took it as part ex and couldnt be arsed doing the work. They sold it to my father who let me blat around a field on it when I was around 10 or so. And here's the rest in order (pretty much)...

Honda SRX90. Got me in and out of college without fail when I was 17. Can't complain!

Suzuki VL125. Great learner bike. Probably one of the best learners out there.

Honda VFR400 NC24. An immaculate example. Never really clicked with it though.

Kawasaki ZXR250 A*. Fantastic! Scalpel like handling and an 18500rpm redline. What's not to like? Came off when a cage decided to get exotic on the exit of a roundabout. Put a golf ball sized hole in my left knee and mostly cosmetic damage to the bike.

Kawasaki GPZ500S* The bike to get me back on two wheels while I repaired the ZXR. Didn't work out too well. Sheared a snap ring in the box entering a roundabout...which was interesting. Bought a replacement box and engine over a period of months but have yet to do anything about it!

Kawasaki Z650. Bought to fill the place of the GPZ. Got me around with a few hassels. Sorry to see it go, but I suspected the starter clutch was on it's way out when I sold it and I couldn't have another bike in the garage for repairs!

Kawasaki ZXR250 A*. I liked the first one so much I bought another. Had a few nicer bits than my current one and you can't get too much of a good thing...right? Currently stripped to make way for modifications - honda rs seat unit, nsr fairings, etc. Will probably end up being a Motogp rep.

Kawasaki ZXR400 H1*. Finally, insurance became attainable for this beauty. I rode 5 hours in solid rain, freezing fog and all kinds of shit to get it home. I announced this as the bike I will NEVER sell. It's currently undergoing an endurance race rep transformation. It's got ISR radial mc and clutch, maxton shock, vortex clip ons, yoshi rearsets, pfm discs, revalved forks and soon to have cosmetic overhaul. On the look out for lightweight wheels, so if you know of any, give me a shout!

Honda Spada VT250*. My current go to work hack. Imagine a Bros 400, but lighter, just as powerful yet 150cc less. Beautiful cast aluminum frame beckons me every morning. It's abit ratty at the moment but will get the treatment in a few months.

Kawasaki ZRX400*. Bought because I always wanted one. Haven't ridden it much as it's purchase coincided with the blowing up of a mates gsxr400. I gave him a loan of the mini rex while he sorted his gsxr. It's been 2 years and the gsxr still isn't rebuilt. Suppose it's testament to how good the Kawasaki is :)

Honda Hornet 600*. Bought because I could finally insure a 600. Will be sold soon, but gave me a very memorable trip through Wales one summer.

Kawasaki ZX7R*. Pre-emptive purchase. Can't insure it properly until I'm 25, so in the meantime I plan on doing some modifying. Have a ZX9R engine, BRG fitting kit, OZ wheels, Ohlins rear shock, Akra system and carbon can, Harris rearsets, screen brace, mudguard and hugger. Plan on getting the brakes sorted soon. Then it's assembly and a gloss black paint job. Sweet.

Honda CBR250*. Bought it to sell it but never did. Needs a little TLC but will eventually sell or make it into a project. Someone say Tyga fairings?

Honda CBR1000F*. My bus for abit of touring around europe later in the year. Full hard luggage etc. Nicknamed 'smug' as you could read a novel and have a fag at 160mph undisturbed.

*= still have

Also in the garage - mates VL125, 1/2 owned FZR250, fathers GSXF600 and CD175 and my/my mates Virago flat tracker project bike.

You may notice a distinct lack of ZRX1100/1200. Never fear. Once I sell a few and make some space, a rex will join the fleet. Have to get a litre twin and a 2 stroke aswell *goes off and dribbles at pics of TLSs and NSR250s*

Ive missed this thread til now.Its bin good reading.
Youv'e all had loads of bikes.I didnt start rideing til 93 age 21 cause when I was 17 pops said he'd never speak to me again if I got a bike so tried to fly cars into anything and everything for 4 years. When I was 21 I realised he was lieing and did my test.:bike:

Passed test in 93 on hired CG125(slow or what!)

1983 CBX 550 Thought if I'm gona p**s the old man off start big(ish).

1979 CB 900 Was told by somebody when buying parts for complete engine rebuild that I'd bought the only bike built with a Plastacene engine. Got it sorted though but got bored after a couple of years.(not fast enough)

1985 GPZ 1000RX(change of manufacturer did me good).Bloody quick but realised I didnt like clipons and full fairings.Dropped it and fightered it.Had an expensive explodeing clutch episode due to the same chain tensioner the ZRX has infront of basket. But alltogether a good bike.(154mph on a private road of corse).

1997 ZRX1100c1 Bought it in 05 as a xmas pressie to myself whilst still owning the gpz.Sold the gpz and decided that the ZRX is the bike for me and I will NEVER sell it.Its the dogs danglies. :) :hail:
Hasn't quite got the top end as the gpz but its enough for me.I get my thrills weaving through moving obsticles(traffic) now and I LOVE it.

Also just bought the misses a CB400sf so I'll get to play with that to.

Damn Doods, this was 20 yrs back, you don't really expect me to remeber at my age ?? ... oh well , here goes, as best as I can recall :-

Honda CB100N
Honda CB125 Twin ( super fast, well as I remember with rose tinted specs )
Honda 250 dream ( swapped 125 for it )
Suzuki GS400 ( loved that bike until it fell under a lorry. I was on it a second B4 )
Suzuki GS550 ( my first and last decent bike up until now )

just for info :- swapped the damaged 400 and front end smashed 550 for a Reliant Regal ( Dell boy van ). Dood who gave me it was a biker. I could drive it with bike licence. It had 1000cc engine and a 750 reliant gear box. Hit 100mph and could burn of Porches at traffic lights. Was most fun I ever had without a bike :)

Mine is easy, maybe I am just lame keeping bikes for so long...

'88 Honda NX 250 .. rare these days ... first bike .. rode the wheels off of it
'00 ZRX 1100 - New in Green! UK spec way cool.
'00 ZRX 1100 - used bought when I moved to the USA ... modded like heck, ZZR 1100 cams ... tuned then detuned. Just moved it back to the UK ...!
'01 Speed Triple was to replace the mighty ZRX ... never came close. Left the oil leaking b*Tch in the garage int he US. One day a Daytona engine will make it right.

Next bike?

Hello all, new man on the list :)

My biker story
several mopeds including a swedish Monark, a Vespa Ciao, Puch maxi and Garelli
then a Yamaha fs1dx tuned to 70cc's
A Honda CD50 fromm 1971
Then I started on something bigger :)
1. Bike a Honda MVX250F 1986
2. Honda CB750F2 1977(planted in the front of a old Toyota)
3. MZ 150 (never got that thing running but it only cost 2 crates of cheap beer)
4. Honda CBX750F 1984(made as a streetfighter)
And now a brand new ZRX1200R, traded the cbx for it, quite a bit more power :D:

APRILIA TUONO
REX £££

some of the above ran concurrently. Fazer thou so close to being a great
bike - lacked mid range & handling required sorting, but less so than some of the others ;) . Tuono stonking - of all of them the one closest to my heart. It felt special. FZS 600 easily best utility and handled better outta the box than ALL the rest bar the Tuono.

Funny isn't it that despite being the originators of the class - with the original Bandit - the Japanese don't do big nakeds particularly well. Too much weight, iffy handling, poor brakes. Yes, I know sorting that would make em more expensive - but how much do we throw at our Rexes anyway? I think the Rex/ZZR lump deserved better, and judged by the site contents so do the ZRXOC as a whole.

K made sure that Versys thing handled, but retro means cutting corners in the spec.

6)Blandit 600 (Yes I know we all make mistakes. The riding position was right at least. Actually mine was fine until it rained. Then it used to misfire on 2 cylinders which was interesting when you are half way round a wet roundabout and all four cylinders spring back into life. Tried all the usual answers then found the answer -sell it!
7)Kwak ZX10 (The original one- I've still got it and I cannot decide whether to restore it to its former glory or have a go at my first streetfighter.
8)The Rex a 1200R (The wife hates it but it will grow on her I'm sure!

That it. Only 8 bikes to summarise 20 years of riding and about a 100 thousand miles. Heres to the next 100 thousand.

New 1978 Kawasaki KE 100 great bike
used 197? Suzuki ?? 185 enduro, free, welded a piece of bar stock to frame to make footpegs.
used 1976 Montesa ?? 250 dirt racer
used 1980 Suzuki DR 400 explored the tank and Arty ranges at FT Polk
New 1985 Kawasaki GPzZX 750 turbo!!! stolen
used 1984 Kawasaki GPzZX 750 turbo!!!

Loved the turbo's, best of any bike I have owned, still would trade any bike for one. Sold it to my friend on a buy back deal when I deployed to W germany. While there, a broken chain destroyed the turbo. Its innerds(tubine shaft and compressor) were removed making it an underpowered 750 when I got it back. I rode it another year without the turbo. Still a nice bike. Gave it to my brother (who needed tansportation, he pawned it (1990)) Now they cost more than when new. I miss her.

1990-2007 no bike
May-August BMW K100RS 202,500 miles on it, only cost 1850.00.
